I think your found poem really shows the power of perseverance, Billy. I love the juxtaposition between what the critics said about Made of Bricks and what actually happened when it was released. It just goes to show us that the critics aren't always right. I always wonder at that moment: what do the critics think then?
ReplyDeleteWe also had the same courage theme to our found poems. I really love how you arranged "fell down a flight of stairs". It really looks like a staircase. It shows the downward action and draws your eye down along with the words and idea of a falling down or drop off. Then the reference to the song Made of Bricks comes after that and how it reached number one and that shows a building back up. It gives that theme of fall down 7 times get up 8. I really like how the simple words have a lot of power; "Number 1", "inspire", "best female artist". All these words and short phrases have a lot of power behind them.
ReplyDeleteYour poem is really inspiring and it is very detailed without providing much detail at all. It manages to walk the reader through her career and gives us an excellent picture of the struggles she was faced and how she overcame those struggles during her career. I really appreciated the line about "Made of Bricks" in the pole position of worst album of the year. Then the next line repeat "Made of Bricks" reached number 1, certified gold. This is an excellent example of courage and strength. It also shows the reader that you should never give up and not everyones opinion is always accurate.
